Tia Carrera is an Austin staple, especially for fans of stoner rock and heavy guitar riffs with fat bass lines and drumming that makes me sweaty and tired just watching. They’re not a jam-band, not in the Widespread Panic sense of the word. But they do get up there and rock it for 15-20 minutes at a time without taking a breather. The trio, led by guitarist Jason Morales, has been busting fools’ eardrums on Red River Street for years. Because of their diverse and free-flowing sound, these guys are able to mix in with the psychedelic crowd, the garage rockers, and the metal heads.
