Pretty In Noise, Ox / Livegigs, Sinnbus Signale present: Danish Post Hardcore / Noise Rock legend LACK is back on tour! Support: Van Urst

Lack is a band from Copenhagen. They play melodic music in a hard way. Lack formed in the previous millennium, in the deep dark of Western Zeeland, Denmark. Being part of the danish hardcore punkrock milieu at the turn of the century, they worked hard, wrote hard music, and played hard shows. They released the critically acclaimed albums ‘Blues Moderne: Danois Explosifs’ (2001), ‘Be There Pulse’ (2005), and ‘Saturate Every Atom’ (2008), and a handful of EP’s before disbanding in 2008. Each album struck its own chord, moving from Scandinavian hardcore through post-hardcore to four-on-the-floor get to the point rock – all based on an artistic policy of no compromise. Lack toured Europe and the US, building a solid audience to their high intensity live shows, playing everything from hopeless toolsheds in New Jersey and freezing basements in Zagreb to supporting bands like Botch, Converge, Isis, 22 Pistepirko and Against Me! Lack was always on the move and never settled for a musical style or genre. They were fiercely themselves till theyran out of time, energy, and purpose.

Lack regrouped in 2021 to play a single show, invited by Ilter festival, Denmark – playing favorite songs from all three albums. After 15 years, they started writing new music and playing shows again. During their time apart, they have been active with bands The Fashion, Rising, Total Heels, Anchorless, Sygdom, The Age of Jive, Beautiful Burning World, The Slips, 300hz, and Tvivler.

Lack is Jacob on drums, Kasper on bass, Jakob on guitar, and Thomas on guitar and vocals.

VAN URST come from a place where it’s no longer quite clear: why, actually? That question remains unanswered. And yet they have to go somewhere, the euphoria, the madness, the love, the frustration and the happiness.

Four gentlemen with plenty of experience in bands and on stages deal with the everyday balancing act between self-exploitation and self-realization, between aspiration and fortune. Here, music is less about staging than helping people to help themselves, coping with everyday life and the pure joy of playing.

The nine songs on the self-titled debut album are correspondingly varied, with everything from calm shoegaze moments to excited blastbeat blasts. This colorful bunch is held together by a love of song, 90s alternative and all the post-something of the American East Coast.

And instead of going on about references and names, just go to a VAN URST concert and see for yourself! Because the most apt description is provided by the band themselves on stage, that’s what it’s all about and for this one moment it’s all that matters.
